Chief resigns

February 24, 1989 — Luray Police Chief Bobby Allen Thomas is resigning from his post effective March 15. At a Luray Town Council meeting, Mayor Ralph H. Dean read a one-sentence letter of resignation from the 51-year-old Thomas. The council accepted the resignation unanimously.

“I felt it was time to make a change,” Thomas said. “There is no scandal here. There is no sensation. After careful consideration, I have decided to resign.”
