January 22, 1987 — Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Lowry of Stanley have been awarded the Chesapeake Bay Clean Water Farm award.
The award, a recognition from Gov. Gerald Baliles, is given to farmers who have installed soil and water conservation measurers called Best Management Practices (BMPs).
The Lowrys own and manage a beef operation in the Jordan Hollow area.
