Comer appointed first rec coordinator

February 4, 1990 — Tim Comer was appointed as Page County’s first recreation coordinator Jan. 1, even if more than a few county employees have no idea where his office is. For the record, Comer is working out of the Board of Supervisors room right now, but may be moved to different digs sometime this summer. In the meantime, his toughest chore may be making people aware the county now has a recreation department.

“It’s kind of frustrating right now because it is a slow process,” Comer, a graduate of Ferrum College and former recreation director in Elkton, said. “They told me before I came in here that it would probably be slow at first. I’d say its going to take a good year to get it off the ground.”
