Shenandoah man pled guilty to three counts of 2nd-degree murder in Dec.

LURAY, Jan. 21 — Last Wednesday in Page County Circuit Court, Judge Clark A. Ritchie set a sentencing date for convicted murderer Timothy Thomas Comer, 57, of Shenandoah. On Dec. 17, 2025, Comer signed a plea agreement with the commonwealth that dropped four weapons and arson charges in exchange for a guilty plea to three counts of second-degree murder.
At 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, Comer will return to court to learn what his penalty will be for taking three lives in the Jollet Hollow area and leading law enforcement on a 15-day manhunt in the summer of 2023.
One year after the manhunt and three homicides along Jollett Road, a Page County grand jury indicted Comer on a total of seven felony charges on June 5, 2024, including first degree murder, two aggravated murders, three weapons charges and arson. As part of the plea deal, four charges were nolle prosequi (not prosecuted), and all three murder charges were reduced to second degree murder.
The plea deal preempted a three-week jury trial that had been scheduled to begin on Jan. 20.
Comer, 57, is being held at RSW Regional Jail in Front Royal. He is being represented by court-appointed public defender Peter K. McDermott of Virginia Defenders in Winchester and Harrisonburg attorney Gene Hart. The Aug. 19 sentencing hearing will allow time for both the prosecution and defense to make sentencing recommendations to Judge Ritchie, who will ultimately deliver the penalty.
All three murders centered around arguments with a neighbor and a family member over land.
