November 3, 1887 — Joseph Dawson, charged with an attempted rape, was tried in the county court last Friday.

The jury fined him $5 and the judge added one year’s imprisonment in the county jail.

Dawson was defended by Messers. D.B. Snyder and M.L. Welfley, and the ability with which they managed his case is well attested by the fact of his virtual acquittal.
