December 8, 1887 — Jno. D. Ruffner and Fred B. Cullers had a difficulty one day this week about the division of some personal property at the residence of Jacob Bumgardner.
The strife grew so bitter that Ruffner, it is alleged, drew his pistol and shot at Cullers, missing him, however. Hard words, we learn, were used on both sides, and Ruffner it is stated, used his pistol in reply to a threat made by Cullers that if a certain disposition was made of a mower (the matter in dispute) he “would have to wade in blood to do it.”
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Ruffner, and Constable Fitch, accompanied by Deputy Sergeant Kline, went to arrest him last Tuesday, but he didn’t get him, owing to the fact that Mr. R. could not be found.
