Completing her college degree in just three years, Weakley was also just named a NCAA Division II first team Academic All-American on Wednesday by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
“Weakley represented Frostburg Women’s Basketball extremely well on and off the court,” according to FSU’s website, “receiving All-MEC honors and holding a 3.89 GPA. Weakley was named First Team All-MEC, while going on to capture First Team All-Region honors, as well as two All-American nods, all while majoring in Business Administration.”
The Bobcats hold the academic bar high as the starting five members of the women’s basketball team have an average GPA of 3.86, with the entire team maintaining a collective average GPA of 3.91.
On March 20, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) included Weakley among its NCAA Division II All-Americans for the 2024-25 season.
“During the 2024-25 season, Weakley was named First Team All-MEC for the third consecutive season, while also earning a spot on the D2CCA All-Region First Team for the third straight year as well,” FSU’s website states. “Weakley led FSU to a 19-win season, helping the team to their first-ever quarterfinal win in the MEC tournament.”
Weakley led the Bobcats in scoring her senior season with 27.4 ppg — most in all of Division II — while also leading the team in rebounds with 8.6 per game. She shot 47.5 percent from the floor, 36.3 percent from three-point range, and a solid 82.4 percent from the free throw line in her final season, while also seeing a team-high 43 steals.
To round out her collegiate career, Weakley became the program’s all-time leading scorer, passing the Frostburg great, Shelia Colbert, while also hitting the 2,000 career point mark, where she finished with 2,243 career points in just three years.
Weakley, now the only player to lead NCAA Division II women’s basketball in scoring for three straight seasons, also broke her own Mountain Eastern Conference sing-season scoring record this season.
More accolades are expected for Frostburg’s most decorated women’s basketball player, before Weakley walks across the stage in a few weeks during commencement.
Weakley finished Luray High School with more than 2,600 points and the school’s all-time leading scorer. Those 2,605 points also put her among the Top 10 all-time leading scorers in the Virginia High School League.
