LURAY — Luray High School senior Gracie Embry had a stellar week for the varsity volleyball team, recording 24 kills over two wins to start the season at 2-0.
Embry recorded 15 kills and five aces in the Bulldogs’ opening win in four sets against Stuarts Draft on Tuesday, and then she posted nine kills and 11 digs in a three-set sweep of Buffalo Gap on Thursday. The two home games got Luray off to a 2-0 start, before hitting the road this week to face one of their toughest opponents this season — East Rockingham.
A four-set loss to the Eagles on Monday night dropped Luray to 2-1 on the season. They remain on the road Thursday night as they take on Stuarts Draft at 7:30 p.m., before returning home Tuesday, Sept. 5 to host Rappahannock at 7:15 p.m.
