January 27, 1966 — The Page County Sheriff ’s Office reported this week that a 17-year- old youth, who escaped from the jail Nov. 15, voluntarily came into the Sheriff ’s Office Friday of last weekend and surrendered.
He was released on bond Monday.
The juvenile who is charged with the theft of two automobiles, escaped from the jail by making a hole in the ceiling of a third-floor restroom, allowing him to climb through the attic.
He then effected an opening in the copula at the front of the building, tied two sheets together to form a rope which let him down to the porch roof.
From there he jumped to the courthouse lawn and made off into the night.
He had been at liberty ever since.
