October 9, 1986 — Luray firefighters assisted fire crews for the George Washington National Forest in battling a blaze which scorched five to eight acres on the Massanutten Mountain Sunday afternoon.
According to Luray Fire Chief Dan Seal, the firefighters received the call at 3:15 p.m.
Seal said it took the firefighters one and a half hours to locate the blaze on the Duncan Hollow Trail.
Seal said Tuesday he did not know what caused the blaze.
