Page County High School ‘s Mitchell Gaskins belted a game-high three hits and recorded 3 RBI in the Panthers’ narrow 7-6 win over Bull Run District foe Mountain View on Friday, April 29.
It would be fellow senior Aidan Painter who got the walk-off, game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh, after the Generals tied the game at 6-6 at the top of the inning. Colby Cave got the win in relief.
Gaskins is posting a solid season after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his arm prior to the start of his senior campaign.
Page County had a total of nine hits on the day, compared to seven for Mt. View. The Generals committed seven of the game’s 10 errors.
The win evens out the Panthers at 6-6 on the season (6-4 Bull Run) and avenges an earlier 7-4 loss at Quicksburg exactly one month earlier on March 29.
Next up, Page County travels to Madison County on Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m. game, before hosting Clarke County on Friday at 6 p.m and playing a rare Saturday game at Rappahannock at 4 p.m.
