May 18, 1911 — Last week while sawing up the big oak trees on the small strip of timberland adjoining the “Ninety-Acre Field” on the north, recently bought by Mr. James O. Bailey of Mr. John J. Moyer, the big circular saw of Mr. Bywaters’ sawmill struck and sawed through numerous nails as if they were broom straws, till finally it came in contact with an old-time gate hinge (made of an old wagon tie) embedded some six inches deep. The saw was a complete wreck. The hinge is believed to have been made sixty-odd years ago by the late Joseph Moyer, who at that day was a noted blacksmith of the Dry Run section.
