HISTORY train Luray

May 31, 1990 — Vivian C. Gaynor will close her books as clerk- treasurer for the Town of Shenandoah Friday, June 29, after a daily dedication to the job for the past 31 years.

Whenever town citizens entered the office to transact business, Mrs. Gaynor always greeted them with a warm and friendly smile. She has shown a continuing interest in the town’s growth and prosperity.

One important event that comes to Mrs. Gaynor’s mind is a trip to Richmond, after which she returned to Shenandoah with $500,000 for the 1964 sewer project.

“As I leave my office, it is with a feeling that I did my best and I look forward to many fruitful years to come with my husband James, my friends and church people,” she said.

“She has been my right arm,” Mayor Edwards said. “She has been knowledgeable of every program ever started and if you ask her where to find something, she always knows.”
