Age 74, Luray, Va.
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Glenn Hayes Pleasants on Sunday, March 3, 2024. He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Glenn was born on May 4, 1949, in Luray and was a son of the late Earl Tennyson Pleasants and Beatrice Virginia Parlett Pleasants.
On March 21, 1971, he married the love of his life, Mary Susan Rickard, and they built a wonderful life together. Side by side in most things, from riding motorcycles to building two homes, their love was unmistakable.
After working as a mechanic and a carpenter, Glenn opened GP Enterprises on Sept. 1, 2001. He loved working with his hands and he could fix almost anything. He was proud of the business he built.
Glenn had a friendly smile and would stop to chat with most anyone.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Jeffrey Pleasants of Luray; a sister, Alice Reichard (John) of North Myrtle Beach, SC; and a special nephew who was more like a son, Robert Pleasants. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, loved ones and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Tennyson Pleasants.
At Glenn’s request, he was cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Heartfelt thanks is extended to Blue Ridge Hospice, caregivers, and all those who helped make his last days more comfortable.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice.
