February 29, 1889 — Dorsey Nichols, whose arrest and preliminary trial was noticed a week or so ago, was indicted by the grand jury on Monday and tried on Tuesday for abducting Elizabeth Rider, a young girl of his neighborhood, for immoral purposes.
His defense was conducted by Mr. Snyder. Capt. Parks represented the Commonwealth.
After a short retirement the jury returned a verdict of guilty, and fixed his punishment at three years in the penitentiary.
