Age 88, Stanley, Va.
Ikey Lee Turner, 88, of Stanley, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on February 4, 1935, in Stanley and was a son of the late Elby Turner and Anna Mae Smelser Cubbage.
Ikey attended the Bethlehem Independent Christian Church and the Riverview Independent Gospel Church in Stanley.
On October 10, 1953, he married Phyllis Jane Reed Turner, who died on October 22, 2016.
Ikey is survived by two daughters, Delores Gochenour, and Donna Davis and husband Jerry, all of Stanley; a son, Ikey Lee Turner Jr. of Stanley; two sisters, Dorothy Gochenour of Luray, and Ora Comer of Stanley; a brother, Carl Cubbage of Stanley; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Turner; his son-in-law, Denny Gochenour; five sisters, Eva Sours, Alyse Campbell, Savilla McCoy, Mary Dallas and Neva Cubbage; and six brothers, Harold “Jake” and Oris Cubbage, and Michael, Lynn, John and Isaac Turner.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, at the Stanley New Hope Pentecostal Church by Pastor Jeff Lucas, Pastor Randy Miller, Pastor Andy Seastrom and Pastor Tony Cubbage. Burial will be in the Leake’s Chapel Cemetery in Stanley.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 2, at the church.
