James Carroll “Jimmy” Whiteside Sr., 78, of Luray, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020, at Skyview Spring Nursing and Rehab.
He was born on May 18, 1941, in Shenandoah and was a son of the late Layton Carroll Whiteside and Geneva Stanley Whiteside.
On Dec. 4, 1962, Jimmy married Joyce Ann Dallas Whiteside, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, James Whiteside Jr. and wife Carla of Stanley; a daughter, Julia Ann Painter and husband Roy of Stanley; two sisters, Joyce Ann Whiteside of Shenandoah, and Rebecca Campbell and husband Josh of Luray; two grandsons, James C. Whiteside III and wife Cassey of Luray, and Kenny Wayne Painter and wife Stephanie of Stanley; and two great-grandchildren, Kora Lynn Whiteside of Luray, and Troy Painter of Stanley. He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Kibler.
A private graveside service will be conducted on Friday, May 8, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Luray by Garland “Bubba” Gochenour and Rev. Donnie Sherfey
