Luray High School junior running back Brady Jenkins has gotten off to a great start in the 2021 fall season with key performances in the opening two games that have lead the Bulldogs to an unblemished 2-0 record.
On Friday night at Buffalo Gap, Jenkins broke loose for a 38-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter that capped the scoring in a narrow 13-12 win over the hosting Bison. Junior Kenny Frye ran in the other Bulldog score from 12 yards out in the first quarter. Despite three fumbles, Luray hit one of two PATs that proved to be the difference. The win flips the script on Luray’s spring loss to Gap in overtime.
In the Bulldogs’ season-opening dominance of Mountain View, Jenkins tallied 76 yards and two touchdowns in his first three carries. The PVN Sports crew named Jenkins the “Player of the Game” in the 62-0 rout.
After Luray’s bye week this Friday, the Bulldogs will host their county-rival, the Page County Panthers, at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17. PVN Sports will accompany the NFHS livestream during that game.
