Jerry Wayne Greene

Age 44, Stanley, Va.

Jerry Wayne Greene, 44, of Stanley, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023.

He was born on October 28, 1978, in Tacoma, WA, and was a son of Owen Jerry Greene of Hot Springs, AR, and Gloria Louisa Wilson Greene of Fredericksburg.

On January 5, 2005, Jerry legally married Jeanie Mae Febus Greene, after five years of him waiting on her to say yes.

Surviving in addition to his parents and his wife are two daughters, Karla Amidon of Harrisonburg, and Addison Greene of Stanley; a son, Bryon Amidon of Seattle, WA; three brothers, Erik Greene of St. Augustine, FL, Chuck Wilson of Sedro Woolley, Washington, Adrian Greene of Hot Springs, AR; a sister, Sarah Augustoski of Woodbridge; and his mother-in-law who loved him as her own, Margaret Febus of Luray.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lisa Turner.

Jerry lived his life everyday with the goal of making his wife smile and providing a good life for his children. He was tenderhearted and caring, but always willing to protect. He was always willing to help. He took on the world and loved adventure. He could fix anything (except doors) and was as smart as any man could come, even without advanced degrees.

He was proud of his work in the National Park Service and working to keep our waterways clean in the most pristine areas. Jerry especially enjoyed his time working on the water in Biscayne National Park, hiking to and working at Phantom Ranch in the bottom of Grand Canyon National Park and starting his career in Big Bend National Park.

He received so many awards and recognitions with the National Park Service, but his most memorable recognition was a letter from Border Patrol for the assistance he gave his Border Patrol friends when they lost an officer. For the last two years he worked at Coors Brewery, and really enjoyed working with his Wastewater Treatment Plant team.

He was the man all his family could count on. He provided the best support to his family, always with a joke and a smile. His memory will always be a light and blessing to all who knew him.

Services are planned for a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
