Age 75, Shenandoah, Va.
John David “Johnny” Lyons Jr., 75, of Shenandoah passed away, Sunday, August 14, 2022 at his home after a brief illness.
Mr. Lyons was born September 20, 1946 in Lyndhurst, VA and was the son of the late John, Sr. and Kathleen Lyons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Michael Leon Shoemaker, as well as a sister and brother-in-law.
Johnny worked for 19 years in the maintenance department at Walmart in Harrisonburg. In his spare time, he was a ham radio operator and enjoyed working with computers and developing websites. He had the ability to repair many things and his family considered him “Mr. Fix-It.” He was known as a gentle spirit and kind man by all who knew him. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Elkton.
On June 18, 2001, he married Linda Sites who survives. Also surviving are his step-children, Shauna Moore and husband, Eddie, and Dana Leake and husband Scott, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home chapel in Harrisonburg, with the Reverend Rob Worthington officiating. Burial will follow at Linville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the First Baptist Church of Elkton at 20913 Blue and Gold Drive, Elkton, VA 22827 in Johnny’s memory.
