She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Luray, where she served on the Altar Guild, and as Lay Reader and Lay Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the Luray Garden Club, the Red Hat Society, and the Saturday Nite Supper Club. The arts, the environment, amateur birding, gardening, and spending time with family were among her longtime interests.
Her parents and brother Christopher predeceased Mrs. Baughan, but she is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lowell; two children, son Stuart B. Baughan, daughter-in-law Laura, and their three children, Margaret R., Haydn B., and George M., of Charlotte, NC, and son Benjamin L. Baughan of Luray; brother C.G. A service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Luray on Saturday, January 7, at 11 a.m. led by The Rev. Cathy Tibbetts, followed by a reception in the parish hall of the church. Internment will immediately follow the service at the columbarium outside the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to The Regional Center for the Performing Arts of Luray, P.O. Box 463, Luray, VA, 22835.
Shocked and saddened to read of Karen’s passing. She was such a great lady. Many good times with her at Luray Garden Club. She got me interested in birding. May she rest in Peace. My deepest sympathy to her family.
