Age 86, Luray, Va.
James McClellen Long, 86, of Luray, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, at Hawksbill Assisted Living. He was born on April 29, 1935, in Luray and was a son of the late John M. Long and Irene Virginia Knott Long.
James worked for Naval Sea Systems Command as an accountant, retiring in 1985 with 33 years of service.
On Feb. 28, 1991, he married Victoria Mae Pettit Long, who died on July 3, 2015.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Cubbage and husband Woody of Stanley, and Julie Weaver and husband Dwayne of Luray; a stepdaughter, Lois Stallard and husband Sammy of Stanley; a sister, Deborah Ellen Long of Birmingham, Ala.; six grandchildren, Rev. Adam Cubbage and wife Molly, Taylor McCoy and husband Keith, Tyler Weaver and wife Brittany, Amber Zissimos and husband Alex, Ashley Long, and James “J.T.” Long; and two great-grandchildren, Bexlynn and Cora Weaver.
He was preceded in death by a son, James “Tim” Long Sr.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the Bradley Funeral Home by the Rev. Adam Cubbage and Rev. Donnie Sherfey. Burial will be in the Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the funeral home.
