Man reported missing in Shenandoah National Park

LURAY Shenandoah National Park is investigating a missing person report for James Alan Cattley. He was reported missing on Monday, Dec. 12. His vehicle was discovered in the park on Thursday, Dec. 15. 

Cattley’s vehicle was found at Turk Gap Parking at mile 94.1 on Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. He had filed a backcountry permit on Sept. 22 for seven nights on the Appalachian Trail with an anticipated exit of Oct. 6. 

Information from park visitors is often helpful in locating missing persons.
