Age 80, Penn Laird, Va.
Mensel Lee Hensley, 80, of Penn Laird, Va., died on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at Skyview Springs Rehab and Nursing Center in Luray, Va.
He was born on April 1, 1940, in Rockingham County and was a son of the late Emmett Hensley and Florence Watson Hensley.
Mr. Hensley graduated from Montevideo High School in 1958 and went on to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his military service, he made a career as an appliance repairman and retired from Sellers Furniture. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
On May 3, 1963, he married Sandra Lee Dofflemyer, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Barry W. Hensley of New Hope, and Roger C. Hensley of Elkton; one granddaughter; one grandson; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 12 siblings, Lonnie, Everett, Norman, Larry, Kenny, Shirley, Myrtle Hammer, Mildred Gibson, Zelda Gibson, Rosie, Jeralene Mercer and Maxine Shreckhise.
A private graveside service was conducted at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens by Pastor Wayne Wright.
