More accolades for Reggie

December 30, 1987It’s been quite a year for Luray High School senior Reggie Cubbage.

For starters, he had his football jersey retired and made the All-Skyline District first team at defensive back. He was voted to the second team at quarterback.

He’s currently averaging 26 points a game as a forward in basketball and already has netted over 30 points in two contests.

Recently, Cubbage was voted to the first team Associated Press All-Star Group A squad as a defensive back. Teammate Gary Webb garnered second team honors at defensive end.

Cubbage said his initial reaction was surprise when Bulldog coach Bill Buracker phoned with the good news.

“At first I didn’t think we were going to make it because we didn’t make it to the playoffs,” he said Thursday.

The state recognition has gained Cubbage some attention from colleges and universities. Several universities with large programs have expressed interest in his football prowess.
