LURAY, Nov. 8 — In their season opener earlier this month, the Warriors of Mount Carmel Christian Academy earned a 54-49 win over Appalachian Christian School behind 21 points, five rebounds and two steals from Haelyn Morris.
The freshman lead the girls varsity basketball team to a 1-0 start, which is now “looking to build off of their middle school season last year,” according to head coach Page Comer.
“Just a few months ago, this same team had an undefeated season and won the region championship,” Coach Comer said. “Although young, they are looking to be competitive this season.”
After a large turnout in volleyball and cross country, MCCA will now be filling the rosters of four basketball teams this winter; two varsity teams, and two at the middle school level.
