Customer Service Clerk receives Proclamation of Appreciation

LURAY, Aug. 25 — During Monday night’s work session, the Luray Council unanimously approved a Proclamation of Appreciation recognizing Customer Service Clerk Deb Nealis for 27 years of service to the Town.
“[T]he Town of Luray is proud to recognize individuals whose dedication, hard work, and commitment have significantly contributed to the efficient and compassionate delivery of public services,” the Proclamation reads. “Deborah L. Nealis has served the Town of Luray with unwavering professionalism and excellence as a Customer Service Clerk for 27 years; and…throughout this time, she has demonstrated exceptional customer service, a deep knowledge of town operations, and a steadfast commitment to meeting the needs of residents and visitors alike.”
After first beginning her role with the Town of Luray on Feb. 17, 1998, Nealis’s last day was Friday, Aug. 29, 2025. She officially retires on Sept. 1 — Labor Day.
“[H]er professional demeanor, attention to detail, and genuine care for the community have made a lasting impact on colleagues, citizens, and the Town’s overall mission,” the Proclamation continues. “The Town of Luray wishes to honor and express its sincere gratitude for Deborah L. Nealis’s loyal and exemplary service, which has strengthened the relationship between the Town and its residents… [She is] leaving behind a remarkable legacy of dependability, integrity, and dedication.”
After the Council affirmed the Proclamation, Mayor Stephanie Lillard signed and presented the document stating the Town’s “heartfelt appreciation and recognition” and its “best wishes for a joyful, healthy, and well-deserved retirement filled with happiness, new adventures, and the same grace that defined her career.”
