September 22, 1911 — The new Mount Carmel Church was dedicated by the Old School Baptists under the brightest auspices last Sunday, Sept. 17, 1911.
The edifice was crowded to its capacity and held at least 500 people on the occasion, while many stayed away because they knew seats could not be obtained.
The other denominations of the town held no services on account of the dedication and there was a general turnout of the people of all denominations including the pastors of several of the Luray churches.
The sermon of Dr. C.H. Waters, of Pindell, Md., was a clear, scholarly and forcible exposition of his text which was taken from the beginning of the ninth chapter of Proverbs.
