SHENANDOAH, Oct. 4 — Page County High School senior running back Ace Campbell posted a game-high 288 yards on the ground and scored four touchdowns against the visiting Raptors of Rocktown last Friday night in Buddy Comer Stadium .
Despite the 52-30 non-district loss, Campbell scored three consecutive rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter and snagged a 13-yard touchdown reception just before halftime. The senior also ran a fake punt 13 yards for a crucial first down in the first quarter. On that same drive, Campbell broke away for a 30-yard run on a first-and-15.
On that 12-play drive that consumed five-and-a-half minutes of the first quarter, Campbell ran the ball six times and accounted for all but six of the 33 yards gained. The senior workhorse would get 22 carries in the first half alone and finish the night with a grueling total of 38 touches (not including a failed halfback option). Campbell averaged 7.6 yards per carry on the night.
Up next, Page County (2-3) will travel to Strasburg (5-0) on Friday, Oct. 11 for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The matchup marks the beginning of a five-game Bull Run District slate for the Panthers.
