New 15-minute, weekly YouTube show will dive into various issues in the Page Valley, while also reporting the Week in Review and checking out the Weekend Ahead
By Randy Arrington
LURAY, Oct. 18 — Page Valley News is launching a new YouTube show today aimed at providing more information about more local things through the addition of a new platform. Each Wednesday at noon, PVN will post an article promoting the 15-minute video — Page Valley Livin’ — which will explore various issues in our community, while also taking a look at the Week in Review and promoting the Weekend Ahead.
The inaugural episode of Page Valley Livin’ visits with Acting Director Lisa Aleshire at Luray’s biggest Halloween attraction, Darkwood Manor. The theatrical haunted house features “movie-like” sets and costumes, with characters played by local volunteer actors. After more than two decades in operation, the attraction has become a Luray institution and is known for being one of the top theatrical haunted houses in Virginia and beyond.
Aleshire will discuss the inspiration for the attraction, as well as this year’s theme — “The Blood Realm”. Each year a new storyline is created to enhance the experience for visitors, and create new visuals for repeat visitors. The popular attraction runs through Nov. 5.
In addition to providing news and sports headlines from the past week, the host will also outline a few entertainment options for the upcoming weekend. Also, in addition to talking about Darkwood Manor, Aleshire agrees to play a little game called “The 5Ws”, where she reveals her favorite horror film and the scariest horror film character of all-time.
(Page Valley Livin’ ~ Episode 1 was recorded on Sunday, Oct. 15 and first aired Wednesday, Oct. 18).
Coming up on Page Valley Livin’…we’re working on shows that will reveal the details of upcoming Halloween events in all three towns (next week); we’ll examine the preparations being made for Election Day (Nov. 1); we’ll review the results of the “big day” (Nov. 8); we’re hoping to talk with those behind a proposal to build a new visitor’s center for the county on Route 211; and we’re trying to schedule a sit down with a local teenage hunter who’s already known all across the country and beyond.
The aim and purpose of these videos are to provide more information about more things that make up the wonderful place we call the Page Valley of Virginia. Serious issues will be handled seriously, while lighter issues may offer more opportunity to have some fun. There is no theme or agenda other than promoting the Page Valley, and trying to better inform the people who both live here and those who love to visit.
