Bulldogs walk away with four Region 1B champions

PENN LAIRD, Feb. 17 — Page County High School Head Coach Brandon Brumfield got his birthday wish last week, when his boys indoor track team won the Region 2B team championship. The bonus came when “Coach B” was named the Region 2B Coach of the Year.
A total of seven Panthers won nine individual titles at the Region 2B indoor track meet held Feb. 17 at the Edward S. Long Jr. Track Complex within the Rockingham Recreation Center in Penn Laird.
Junior Braxton Pettit was the 2B Top Performer of the Meet with 38 points. Pettit won FOUR individual region titles, including:
- 1st — 55 meter hurdles, 7.62 seconds
- 1st — 55 meter dash, 6.75 seconds
- 1st — 300 meter dash, 39.97 seconds
- 1st — long jump, 18’6.5″
Other Panthers winning region championships include:
- Asher Kite — 1st, 500 meter dash, 1:12.85
- Aaron Hensley — 1st, 1000 meter run, 3:01.04
- Isaac Davis — 1st, high jump, 5’10”
- Nate Holloway — 1st, shotput, 44’2″
- Staples, Kite, Cave, Hensley — 1st, 4×800 relay, 9:27.85
Region 2B runner-ups included:
- Braxton Pettit — 2nd, triple jump, 39’1/2″
- Aaron Hensley — 2nd, 1600 meter run, 4:59.85
- Asher Kite — 2nd, high jump, 5’6″
Other TOP 5 performances included:
- McKay, Kite, Cave Staples — 3rd, 4×400 relay, 4:16.01
- Welch, Baylor, Davis, Wright — 3rd, 4×200 relay, 1:50.81
- Isaac Davis — 3rd, triple jump, 36’4″
- Isaac Davis — 4th, 55 meter hurdles, 9.76 seconds
- Atari Good — 4th, shotput, 35’2″
- Brandon Wright — 5th, 55 meter dash, 7.4 seconds
- Hudson Cave — 5th, 1000 meter run, 3:20.86
- Brandon Welch — 5th, 3200 meter run, 13:08.56
- Brandon Wright — 5th, long jump, 16’7.5″
The Page County boys indoor track team will now head to the VHSL Class 2 state indoor track meet March 4-5 at Liberty University.
The Page County High School girls indoor track team produced two Region 2B runner-ups in Aubrianna Bracker, who finished second in the 500 meter dash (1:12.85), and the 4×200 relay team of Pence, Green, McKay and Bracker (1:58.61).
Other Top 5 finishers in the Region 2B girls division include:
- Averie Green — 3rd, high jump, 4’6″
- Averie Green — 4th, 55 meter dash, 7.95 seconds
- Kaylee Holbert — 4th, 3200 meter run, 15:42.94
- Elizabeth Wood — 5th, 1000 meter run, 4:03.83
- Brenna McKay — 5th, long jump, 13’11.25″

Region 1B Results
The Region 1B indoor track championships were held on the same day at the same location, with the Bulldogs of Luray earning four individual champions:
- Lucy Currle — 1st, 55 meter hurdles, 9.34 seconds
- Isabela Rizek — 1st ,1600 meter run, 6:11.15
- Azmani Jackson — 1st, 300 meter dash, 36.63 seconds
- Luch Currle — 1st, high jump, 4’8″
Other Top 5 performers from Luray included:
- Azmani Jackson — 2nd, 55 meter dash, 6.83 seconds (region runner-up)
- Maya Jenkins — 2nd, 1000 meter run, 3:25.85 (region runner-up)
- Jarvis, McNeal, Frey, Jackson — 2nd, 4×400 relay, 3:46.58 (region runner-up)
- Natalie Ridgeway — 3rd, 1600 meter run, 6:47.57
- Daniel Frey — 3rd, 500 meter dash, 1:13.51
- Vaughn, Flores, Martin, McLain — 3rd, 4×200 relay, 2:05.13
- Kristin McLain — 4th, 55 meter hurdles, 10.18 seconds
- Chloe Catron — 4th, 1600 meter run, 7:15.82
- Qamnyn McNeal — 4th, 300 meter dash, 38.46 seconds
- Colton Bates — 4th shotput, 35’10.5″
- Zoe Vaughn — 5th, 55 meter hurdles, 10.48 seconds
- Daniel Frey — 5th, 55 meter hurdles, 8.59 seconds
- Plum, Rizek, Jenkins, Sours — 5th, 4×400 relay, 4:48.25
The VHSL Class 1 indoor track championships also take place March 4-5 at Liberty University.
