September 23, 1965 — The Luray Bulldogs and the Page County Panthers will meet this Friday night in a District 10 football game, on the Panther’s home field.
Starting time is 8 p.m. with a large crowd expected to attend the game.
This keen, but friendly rivalry between Luray and Page County started back in 1961, with the Panthers holding a 3-1 edge in games won.
After Page County had taken the first three games, 21-7 in 1961, 25-0 in 1962 and 21-13 in 1963, Luray came up with a victory in 1964 by a score of 19-13, which was the most thrilling of the four games between the two teams.
This game produced many exciting runs and plays, and was like that right down to the final whistle.
It would come as no surprise to see another thriller between the Bulldogs and Panthers Friday night in their fifth meeting since the series started.
