May 6, 1965 — More than 100 postmasters, associates and friends were present Saturday evening at the Mimslyn to do honor to Carroll E. Beach retiring postmaster at Luray.

Beach has been postmaster at Luray since 1951 and is required to retire because of age limitations set by statue.

Making the principal address was Andrew E. Newton, regional director of the Post Office Department who called Beach a “perfect Virginia gentleman.”

Newton was high in his praise of Beach’s tenure in office.
