March 3, 1966 — Owners of an industry met Saturday, Feb. 26, with members of the Stanley Town Council, members of the Stanley Development Corp. and the Stanley Chamber of Commerce, and Karl Jenkins, owner of the Stanley Theater building.
The purpose of the gathering was to lease both floors of the theater building for an industry. The prospect was obtained through the Stanley Chamber of Commerce.
Russell H. Helms, president of the Chamber of Commerce, said “this is a large manufacturer and their locating here seems evident, we hope in the near future. However, it seems the prime factor involved is whether they will be able to employ enough men and women to operate the plant. We hope to have a more definite announcement in the near future.”
According to Mr. Helms, the firm manufactures play clothes.
