Richard Ernest “Dick” Nevitt, 83, of Stanley, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023, at home.
He was born on October 27, 1939, in Washington, D.C., and was a son of the late Richard Francis Nevitt and Musette Odell Sutphin Nevitt.
Dick was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from the U.S. Capitol Police as a lieutenant, with 13 years of service.
On June 24, 1960, he married Betty Ann Coffey Nevitt, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Bryan Clay Nevitt and wife Victoria of Luray; a grandson, Bryan Clay Nevitt Jr. and fiancée Allison Kelly of Stanley; a granddaughter, Ashley Marshall and husband Jeremy of Luray; and four great-granddaughters, Ava, Quinn and Aria Marshall, and Emerleigh Nevitt.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 23, at the Bradley Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Turner, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
