It is with great sadness, that the family of Ronald L. Hensley announce his passing on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. Mr. Hensley was born on May 30, 1943 in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Lonnie and Iva Hensley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Hammer and Betty Hensley; brother, Robert Hensley.

Ronnie will be lovingly remembered by all of his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bonnie Marie Hensley; daughter, Tracy Nicholson and her husband, Ted of Shenandoah; son, Tony Hensley and wife, Pam of Shenandoah; grandchildren, Zachary Nicholson and wife, Tara of Elkton, Lydia Moyer and husband, Hunter of Stanley, Gabriella Hensley of Shenandoah; great-grandsons, Ronnie’s three musketeers, Chandler, Evan and Ryland Nicholson of Elkton; his siblings, Lonnie Hensley, Jr., Randall Hensley, Steve Hensley and Mark Hensley, all of Elkton; sisters, Linda Breeden and Cathy Lam, both from Elkton.

Ronnie was an avid lover of the outdoors. His passion for this led him to be the successful owner of two businesses. He was the owner and president of an international trading company; R L. Hensley and Son Logging Inc. with his son Tony Hensley. His love for the Shenandoah River and the Blue Ridge Mountains led him to establish “Papa Bears River Cabin Rental”.

Ronnie lived well, laughed often and loved so much. He enjoyed trips with family to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where he loved to fish, eat local seafood and making memories with his family.

In honor of his wishes, a private service will be held at the family’s request. 

Our family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support during this difficult time. The family wishes to send a special thank you to Ronnies loving caregivers, Jennifer Paugh, Betty Phenix, Jane Bibble, Dr. Terry Overby, Katrina Shifflett, CareFree Agency and Hospice.
