November 28, 1889 — On Friday morning, while Kaywood, a little son of Mr. John Henry, who lives northwest of Luray, was driving a horse, attached to a wagon through town, the horse became unmanageable, ran off and landed the wagon against a tree in front of the residence of Judge Brand.
The horse, to free himself, kicked furiously, smashing the dashboard and striking the child in the chest with one of his hoofs. The little fellow was precipitated against the pavement with great force.
He was picked up and carried into the Judge’s dwelling when Dr. Keller, who had been hastily summoned, attended him. The child received a severe gash on the back of his head, and contusions on the body. He was removed to his home the same day.
Whilst his injuries are painful, Dr. K. is of the opinion that they are not serious.
