Rusty Neal Burner, 48, of Shenandoah, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Sentara RMH Medical Center.
He was born on November 8, 1973, in Harrisonburg and was a son of John W. “J.B.” Burner of Shenandoah and Donna Jane Hilliard Burner of New Market.
Rusty was a third generation poultry farmer, owning and operating Handy Hill Farm since 2000. He was a member of the New Market Eagles and the Shenandoah Moose Lodge.
On July 4, 2000, he married Jacqueline “Jackie” Leah Rafft Burner, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his parents and his wife are a daughter, Miranda Burner; a son, Dylan Burner; two sisters, Bridget Burner of Stanley, and Dana Burner of Harrisonburg; a niece, Destiny Breeden of Stanley; and a nephew, Logan Freeze of Harrisonburg. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lexy Nichole Burner; and a niece, Casey Rickard.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, at the Leake’s Chapel Church of the Brethren in Stanley by Keith Higgs. Burial will be in the Leake’s Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family for the children’s education.
