~ Athlete of the Week selected by the publisher
TREASURE COAST, FLA., July 27 — This week the “Athlete of the Week” honor goes to an entire team — the Shenandoah 12U Softball All-Stars — because it took a team effort to work through eight games in six days at the 2022 Babe Ruth 12U Softball World Series.
After a slightly disappointing 2-3 run through Pool Play Friday through Sunday, Shenandoah went 3-0 in bracket play starting on Monday and captured the Diamond Bracket championship on Wednesday.
In their final three games at the World Series, Shenandoah outscored their opponents 44-7 and ended up 5-3 overall for the Series.
The Shenandoah Rec League’s 12U All-Stars captured the 2022 Babe Ruth Softball Southeast Region championship on July 15 in Clemmons, North Carolina, outscoring their opponents 60-4 over four games.
They reached the southeast regional after winning the Virginia state title on July 3, taking four of five games over a four-day stretch at the 2022 Babe Ruth Softball State Tournament in Wise, Va.
