SMYTH COUNTY — Just over two weeks ago, the Smyth County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Shenandoah man who lead several agencies on a pursuit that ended with multiple charges. The individual was also wanted on grand theft auto and drug-related charges in Page County.
During the evening of Tuesday, July 9, Wesley Adam Keesee, of Shenandoah (and formerly of Elkton), rode a stolen motorcycle through Wythe and Smyth counties, and along I-81, while being pursued by state troopers and sheriff’s deputies from both counties. The pursuit started in Wythe and ended in Smyth along Duncan Road when Keesee drove a “black sports bike” through an “unfamiliar residence with no trespassing signs posted” and was eventually “cornered in the driveway,” according to a report from WJHL Channel 11.
Keesee was charged by each agency involved in the chase, including trespassing, felony evading and other related charges. He was taken into custody and transported to Abingdon Regional Jail.
Keesee is scheduled to appear in Page County General District Court at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12 for further proceedings on four charges — including two Class 5 felony counts of possession of a Schedule I/II drug, an unclassified felony for grand larceny (auto theft) and an unclassified felony for the distribution of methamphetamines in an amount between 28 and 226 grams, according to court files.
While one drug possession offense occurred on March 10, 2024, according to court records, the other drug possession and distribution offenses occurred on June 29 — just 12 days before the motorcycle pursuit in Southwest Virginia. According to a capias warrant issued by a local magistrate, the motorcycle was stolen in Page County on June 30.
