June 15, 1989 — The expansion of the lodge and other facilities at Skyland in Shenandoah National Park continues, with 28 new guest rooms set to open by sometime in August.
Eight of the rooms have already opened, as have handicapped facilities in the new gift shop rest rooms. The dining room is now served by a chairlift and visual smoke detectors are being installed for the hearing impaired.
Skyland will have a total of 186 rooms when the construction is completed.
