Stanley Richardson “Buddy” Wade Jr., 80, of Luray, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022.
He was born on April 25, 1942, in Millboro Springs and was a son of the late Stanley Richardson Wade Sr. and Clara Margaret McKee Wade.
Buddy served with the United States Navy as Senior Chief, with more than 29 years of service. He was a Captain with the City of Charlotte Fire Department in North Carolina, worked for the National Park Service in Washington, D.C., as a fire protection officer, and was employed as a government contractor with the U.S. Navy for many years.
He was a member of the Mount Carmel Regular Baptist Church and a founding member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Millboro Springs. He was a Gideon and a Master Mason, serving with the Knights Templar and the Scottish Rite. He was also a member of several Masonic lodges, having served as a Past Master.
On May 6, 1966, he married Charlotte A. Tolley Wade, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Stanley Michael Wade and wife Ronya of West Virginia, and David Richardson Wade and wife Grace of Manama, Bahrain; and two grandchildren, Adam Wade and Kaley Wade, both of Manama, Bahrain. He was preceded in death by a brother, William “Bill” Wade; and a sister, Joyce Shifflett.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Millboro Springs by his son, Stanley Michael Wade. Burial will be in the Windy Cove Cemetery in Millboro Springs.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray.
