STANLEY — Fire Chief Terry A. Pettit reported that the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department answered 41 calls for the month of February, including 16 emergency calls, 10 medical calls and 15 non-emergency calls. Total for the year is 102.
A breakdown of the calls show that there were 10 medical calls, six vehicle accidents, six lock outs, two calls for electrical lines down, two structure fires (one house, one chimney), standby two events, two brush fires, two standby control burns, two chimney checks and one automatic fire alarm, standby fireworks display, grass fire, remove tree from roadway, odor investigation, smoke investigation and smoke alarm activation.
An average of 15 members responded to each emergency call, and an average of seven members responded to each medical call. The most members on an emergency call were 22 and the least was five.
There was 534 miles placed on apparatus, and there was no fire damage for the month. The department assisted the Stanley Rescue Squad on seven calls, Page County EMS on six calls and the Shenandoah Fire Department on three calls. The department was assisted by the Page County EMS on one call and the Luray Fire Department on one call.
Two cars and one pickup truck were totaled due to vehicle accidents, and there was one injury due to vehicle accidents. No fire-related injuries were reported.
Members responding to the most emergency calls were Chief Pettit 16, Colin Huffman 13, Mike Lloyd 12, Brennan Stoneberger 12, Darrnell Owens 11, Jason Pettit 11, Ethan Knight 10, Kevin L. Painter 10, Ariel Beales 9, Zach Croft 9, J. T. Long 9, Joey Long 9 and Chance Wallace 9.
Members answering the most medical calls were Chief Pettit 9, Brennan Stoneberger 7, Bruce Stoneberger 7 and Chance Wallace 6.
Members answering the most non-emergency calls were Chief Pettit 10, Colin Huffman 9, Mike Lloyd 8, Derek Franks 5, Ethan Knight 5 and J.T. Long 5.
