The Mount Carmel Christian Academy girls basketball team finished the season at 20-4 and were state runners-up in the Virginia Association of Christian Athletics. The Warriors’ talent and hustle often made up for their lack of size or experience. Their starters consisted of one junior, two sophomores and two eighth graders — and they only lost one district game, before falling in the state championship Feb. 29 to Faith Christian of Roanoke.
