September 12, 1986 — ABC Agent D.W. Presgraves, State Trooper D.L. Weaver, ABC Special Agent Roger Judd and State Game Warden Parke Slater seized a 60-gallon copper still at a chicken house in Kite Hollow Tuesday.
According to Presgraves, a month-long investigation preceded Tuesday’s raid. Presgraves said he has an idea of who owned the still, but would not elaborate because the case is under investigation.
Charges are pending in the case.
Along with the still, the agents planned to destroy 300 gallons of peach mash, 360 pounds of sugar, 300 one-gallon jugs and similar still paraphernalia.
