Age 95, Elkton, Va.
Sylvia Lam Shifflett, of Elkton, Virginia, passed away at her home on November 15, 2024, at the age of 95 and 6 months. Born May 9, 1929, in Page County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Polly Meadows Lam.
On May 13, 1948, she married Richard Edward Shifflett who preceded her in death on October 18, 1994. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Shifflett was preceded in death by two sons, Larry L. Shifflett, Rondal R. Shifflett; four sisters, Viola Meadows, Arvilla Monger, Shelva Campbell, Marie Lawson; six brothers, James Lam, Norman Lam, Albert Lam, Robert Lam, Leo Lam, Otis Lam Sr., and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Shifflett was raised in Page County and attended Weaver Hollow School. Prior to becoming a full-time homemaker, she worked at Elkton Blue Bell and East Point Hatchery. She was a devoted member of Jollett Bible Mission Church. Sylvia was also member of the Daughters of the Revolution, Elkton Eagles, Shenandoah Moose, and VFW Post 9292 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Breeden and husband, Randell; two sons, Clifford Shifflett and wife, Donna, Colin Shifflett, all of Elkton; 14 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 13 step great-grandchildren; several great great-grandchildren; 3 step great great-grandchildren; 1 step great great great-grandchild; daughter-in-law, Beverly Shifflett; special sister-in-law, Bonnie Tracy, and many extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Josh Shifflett and Pastor David Burrell officiating. Interment to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
