April 22, 1965 — Four choir members of two Luray churches were the victims of a thief or thieves Sunday during the 11 o’clock Easter Morning Worship Services.

Four wallets were taken from the choir’s dressing rooms and a total of $86 is missing, Luray Police reported this week.

Three choir members at the Luray Church of the Brethren were victims of the thefts. A total of $75 was taken there.

One of the wallets was found in a cinderblock cavity behind a door of the church. The other two wallets are still missing.

At St. Mark’s Lutheran Church one choir member’s wallet containing $11 was taken. The empty wallet was later found in the men’s restroom at the church.

In each instance the choir members had left their wraps and pocketbooks in the choir dressing rooms while they were attending the church services.

The thief or thieves entered the buildings at the time and ransacked the pocketbooks.
