Thomas Petar Keane

Tom Keane

Age 50, Luray, Va.

Thomas Petar “Tom” Keane, 50, of Luray, Va. passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022. Tom was born on December 27, 1971 in Bronx, N.Y.

The day Tom left this Earth he proudly described himself to a friend as a “Family man, Hippy and Biker. Tom was known by many names: Tommy to family, Tommy Petar (Which he hated once he got older) to his Mom, Tom to friends, if he was called Thomas Petar, (he knew he was in trouble), Uncle Tommy, but his most treasured name was “Daddy”.

He loved the beauty of the outdoors, live music and riding his Harley, Steale. He loved the wind on his face, calling it “wind therapy”. Loved having Leanne ride with him and proudly calling her his “Old Lady”, stating the back seat was for her only and forever. He loved riding so much that he persuaded his friends to start the Front Royal Moose Rider’s, being their first president. He only wanted the role for the first year to get it started. Deep down he wanted to be his own free spirited and independent Hippy-Biker.

When Tom entered a room, he lit it up and people were drawn to him. Tom loved music including Grateful Dead, Phish, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Galactic and loved funk, jazz, bluegrass, classic rock, and especially Billy Joel. Music and shows gave him joy. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh. He made and kept lasting friendships easily.

He like his father, and brother (Brian) had the gift of gab (true Irishman through and through). Tom could be tough, but was also kind and loving, and fiercely protective of those he truly loved and cared for. We are comforted in knowing that in his final hours he spent doing what he loved, listening to music and riding his Harley. Tom was taken from us too soon and will always be loved, missed and remembered by all who truly knew and loved him. “Only the Good Die Young”……Billy Joel.

Tom is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Patrick Keane; brother, Brian Christopher Keane; grandparents, Danica (Nanny) and Petar Legovic, Ruth and Thomas A. Keane.
