Truth over theater: When fascist becomes the opening act

Letter

Dear Editor:

I attended the October 28 rally for the Democrat gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger at the Stanley Fire Hall — not as a supporter, but as a concerned citizen. What I witnessed firsthand should disturb citizens of Page County and stands in stark contrast to the embellished account published recently by a Democrat in attendance.

The most troubling thing from this was the rhetoric from the Page County Democrat Chairman, Miles Morimoto, who opened the event by labeling Republicans as “fascists.” That kind of language isn’t just divisive — it’s disgusting. It undermines civil discourse and paints hard-working, principled neighbors as threats to democracy. It does however shed some light on what our liberal leaning neighbors think of the MAJORITY of their fellow citizens as this declaration was met with applause and support by ALL in attendance.

In regard to the letter to the editor, written by Miles Morimoto, lets set the record straight. The letter begins by thanking local law enforcement for “ensuring that they were able to gather and support dialogue and civic discourse and engagement all made possible by local law enforcement.” As if Republicans couldn’t be trusted to allow this event to unfold and that Democrats are the victims of political violence in Page County. Historically, and factually, that narrative doesn’t hold water. Republicans here have shown restraint, respect, and a commitment to peaceful civic engagement — even when provoked. And let’s not forget, it wasn’t a Republican who made horrible comments about a fellow house delegate and his family, wishing death upon them.

In this letter to the editor submitted by Miles Morimoto, it claimed “hundreds” were present. In reality, the crowd barely reached 100. That’s not a minor exaggeration — it’s a deliberate inflation meant to project momentum that simply wasn’t there. It is also noteworthy that many of the attendees were from outside the county.

This kind of distortion should concern every voter, regardless of party. If Democrats feel the need to misrepresent attendance numbers and vilify their opposition to gain traction, what does that say about the strength of their ideas?

Republicans in Page County must not be silent. We must show up, speak out, and demand that our own candidates represent us with clarity, courage, and constitutional conviction. Let’s reject false narratives and recommit to truth, civility, and principled leadership. Take action and vote for our Republican candidates.

Respectfully,

Ryan Marshall ~ Luray, Va.

  1. How much projection (not to mention the inability to county) can be included in one letter? “….opened the event by labeling Republicans as ‘fascists. That kind of language isn’t just divisive — it’s disgusting. It undermines civil discourse and paints hard-working, principled neighbors as threats to democracy. It does however shed some light on what our liberal leaning neighbors think of the MAJORITY of their fellow citizens as this declaration was met with applause and support by ALL in attendance.”

Shall I cite some examples of “Republican civility” from the Page County Republicans website?

“More voters are realizing the stark choice between our common sense Republican candidates and the far-left, dangerous Democrats. And it is our responsibility to ensure every Republican makes it to the polls, preferably before Election Day.”

“Everything you do from now through Election Day helps our Republican and Republican-endorsed candidates move closer to victory against the far-left Democrats and their campaign of RAGE and HATE.”

Further down on the website is a meme that contains this civil language:
    “Demoncrats”
    “Democrats are Evil”

Sounds like some residents in this county can dish it out but can’t stand it when the other side does it.

    • Dave, I’m glad that you at least don’t refute the claim that, Republicans were labeled as fascists at this rally and that you agree with that statement. It helps prove my point. Further, it is neither divisive nor destructive to the ability to debate to point out that all virginians should be moving away from a FAR Left political ideology that preaches hate, violence, and grievance politics. And lastly, I’m not responsible for any Memes posted on the republican page for page county but if they believe it is their Christian duty and duty as common sense Americans to call out evil when they see it, then they have the right, despite what you and the ACTUAL fascist and anti-free speech left would desire.

  2. I appreciate your civil tone but disagree 100%. I will retort with a simple question. Why do Sears and Republicans call all Democrats “the enemies within.” Spanberger and Democrats refer to Republicans as “political opponents” but try to see eye to eye with them. Perhaps it’s because we possess that trait that Charlie Kirk called a “weakness”: Empathy.

    • Dave, respectfully no democrats do not call Republicans “political opponents”, they call them fascists, nazis, zionists, misogynists, bigots, and the list goes on. Also many Republicans view democrats as the enemy within because the entire left wing ideology is antithetical and diametrically opposed to everything that equates to bring a freedom and liberty-minded American and it’s proponents loudly and proudly express their desire to destroy the entire system. So again, with respect, I think you need to be introspective about the way the party you seem to support presents itself, what it purports to believe, and what it’s willing to do to meet it’s goals and see if that aligns with what you believe to be good and true about the world. Thank you.

  3. “Calling someone a “fascist” means they are accused of supporting a political ideology characterized by authoritarian government, a strong central leader, extreme nationalism, suppression of opposition, and the belief that the nation or race is more important than the individual. The term is often used today to describe anyone seen as authoritarian, militaristic, or extremely nationalistic, and can sometimes be a way to shut down a conversation rather than start a debate.” This sounds like a description of Islam as laid out in the Koran. Islam is a cult masquerading as a religion. The authoritarian leader, the “prophet” muhammad. (likely a paranoid schizophrenic who had seizures). The koran has harsh rules for those who step out of line. Death to infidels, (Christians and Jews), defaming the prophet-(like what I just did), death by knife to the neck. Also, by “taqiyyah”, it’s ok to lie to infidels when a believer feels threatened and it furthers Islam. Then there’s degradation of women. The whole thing is a violent manifesto akin to the Unabomb Manifesto of Ted Kaczynski. Jesus is also included in the Koran. Why is that? To legitimize the whole scam that’s why.
And now the democrats are trying to sneak the camels nose under the edge of the tent with the Lt Gov candidate Hashmi, who is a muslim. Can you imagine a muslim, someone who is authorized to lie to infidels, to be a court judge, a lawyer, or in a position with political power? You can’t believe anything they say, and everybody is scared to say anything because these people could kill to further Islam. I had a shite muslim female as a coworker a long time ago. From Tehran, Iran. And also a sunni muslim Arab from Morocco. Both beautiful women. Both very pleasant and normal to have around. They had a sense of humor. They had morals, and they understood me. One day the shite and I were talking about our religions and I mentioned to her that I thought Islam was all fake. No. Parisa didn’t get upset. She said, “But two billion people believe in it.” I said, “If two billion people say a stupid thing, it is still a stupid thing. If two billion people told you to go out on top of the parking garage and jump off, would you do it?” She saw the logic, and knew I cared enough to point that out.
So, all normal as usual, the days passed, and after work another day I heard her complaining to another coworker about the government in Iran, that Christianity makes better sense, and that Islam was fake, “the way they do it.” So she qualified her opinion, but anyway, I thought it was a good start at recovery.

    • Hello Robert. As Americans, a lot of us have become divisive, tribalistic, extremist and religious fundamentalist society over the years with a party and tribe-over-country ideology filled with pent-up hate, dehumanization and hatred. Civil and unifying discourse with actions taken for the common good of mankind has completely disappeared. It is replaced with childish name-calling, labeling, stereotyping, discrimination, extremist religious fundamentalism and racism from everybody. This needs to stop. It is unfortunate that ever since FDR’s New Deal policies, corporate elites, technocrats, other rich folks, religious leaders, modern-day cultists and Government have been engaging in socio-economic-political-religious activities to the detriment and persecution of the middle class, poor and marginalized society at large. Crony capitalism, corruption, greed, pedophilia, lawlessness, cruelty and a myth of free market society has completely overtaken us. We all need to look at the basic tenets of Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam which preach love, kindness, shared prosperity, neighborliness and holiness. We all need to strive to be better as human beings. One’s sex, gender, caste, race, color, creed and personal preferences with religious practices, relationships and likes or dislikes should be allowed in the name of life, liberty, safety and freedom. America is a free and multicultural country. No group is trying to take over America. As Americans, we need to practice common sense, follow the laws of the land, and vote for the Government that is willing to take good care of its citizenry. As a free, democratic republic, we cannot reduce ourselves to the likes of Russia, China and other corrupt, backward, extremist, religious fundamentalist and cruel second and third world nations. Tariffs and trade-wars are not needed to make America great. America is already the greatest nation in the world. All of us owe it to America and should be grateful for the benefits the nation offers. America is the envy of the world. The country is currently faced with a dire situation where ONE man is trying to take over everyone. This man is a pedophile, is not a Christian, is an adulterer, a divisive person, a cruel and narcissistic person. We, the people need to fight against this would-be authoritarian who wishes to be like Vladimir Putin. We, the people need to fight against the corporate elites, technocrats, extremist religious fundamentalists and cruel Government institutions like ICE. I understand that no one is perfect. Democrats, Republicans, Independents and everyone else has weaknesses, problems and issues. It is human nature. We all need to stay united and help each other in times of need. Robert, please open your eyes and I implore and encourage you to stop dehumanizing folks and stay above the stench created by these immoral folks that we, the people are fighting against.

  4. “SP”. I might be a fine one to talk, but you have a cement mixer like rotation and churn of idealistic ideas. You lost me when you shot at Trump. Nobody is perfect, but he and others are trying to fix what the leftists have broken. Leftists, like juvenile delinquents don’t like having a parent figure getting in their way. Of particular interest to you is the following AI generated history of Adolph Hitler joining forces with Islam to exterminate Jews. Democrats call Trump and us Nazis because they know most of their followers are very suggestible and dumb and will believe their lies, which are many. I can’t see how Trump is anything like Adolph Hitler. Suprise me. “Yes, Hitler met with Islamic leaders, most notably with Haj Amin al-Husseini, the former Mufti of Jerusalem, in 1941. The meeting took place in Berlin, and the two discussed shared animosity toward Jews, with Hitler confirming his commitment to the “uncompromising war against the Jews”. This meeting occurred after World War II had begun and after the Final Solution had already been put into motion.
The meeting: Al-Husseini met with Hitler in the Reich Chancellery in October 1941.
The discussion: Al-Husseini asked for a public statement and a formal treaty where Germany would pledge to not occupy Arab lands, recognize Arab independence, and support the removal of the Jewish homeland in Palestine. Hitler declined to give a public statement or treaty but confirmed that the “struggle against a Jewish homeland in Palestine” was part of Germany’s larger anti-Jewish struggle.
Context: By this time, Hitler had already ordered the construction of the first extermination camp, and the Nazis had already murdered nearly one million Jews in occupied Soviet territories.
Collaboration: Following the meeting, al-Husseini continued to work with the Nazis and served as the honorary chair of a “Islamic Central Institute” in Berlin. He also acted as a spiritual advisor to Waffen-SS Bosnian Muslim battalions.” Islam is from Hell. The Koran disguises the evil with a lot if nice talk in between. Can you see it?

  5. Wow just wow Ryan

I don’t know who penned the title

    Truth Over Theatre
When fascism becomes the opening act

But it’s a perfect opening for my own “rotation and
    churn of idealistic ideas”

One must remember that the political arena at this time
In history in America is only showing one third of We The People
(thank god) and I suspect this will change for though democratic process far outweighs other forms of governing the sovereignty of a persons life far outweighs such governing. We the people who were to join together to form a more perfect union have become caught in someone’s illusion who has suspended disbelief of what they should be believing.

I never knew in my 71 years of life here what the word fascism meant but here it is in all its ‘glory’ prancing across our political stage of a democratic nation stripping what I once thought as a stronghold of judicial and constitutional protections and there are still so many like Ryan who don’t here the truth and innocence like in Abigail’s meeting who are shouting

    The Emperor Has No Clothes

I want to ‘break the fourth wall’ of this tragedy and say Cut
Just stop already and hopefully it will.

Those two third of our nation who did not vote I hope you will. As my friend Maureen Day said I’m not use to being a patriot growing up in the 60 and 70 and belonging to mostly anti government thoughts and to this day I still hope for the day self governing would be our nations stronghold but till that time we must protect so many of our rights that so many have died for
And to work together. Yes together. Yes We Can!

As Longfellow wrote in his poem

Thou, too, sail on, O Ship of State!
Sail on, O Union, strong and great!
    Humanity with all its fears,
With all the hopes of future years,
Is hanging breathless on thy fate!
