Untaxed liquor

Old country road

March 19, 1964 — A 36-year-old man of the Comertown section was found guilty on two counts last week of violating state and federal liquor laws. His case was heard in Page County Court.

Judge Mark D. Woodward fined the man $50 and costs and 10 days in jail on a charge of having untaxed alcoholic beverages in his possession. On the second charge, possession of distilling equipment, he drew six months in jail and a fine of $150 and costs. Both jail sentences were suspended on good behavior for one year.

The charges were the results of a raid made Jan. 25 by State ABC investigator J.C. Wilfong, U.S. Tax Unit Agent William Roebson, and State Trooper R.M. Dodson and Clyde Mull. A 65-gallon still and about one-half gallon of whiskey were found on the premises.
